Telangana EHS Health Card: How to Create Your ABHA Number (Simple Steps)

Why Some Cards Show ABHA as N/A

Many employees open the EHS portal, see the health card ready on screen, and click View Card right away. The card downloads with no problem. It looks complete.

The trouble starts later. Maybe an Arogya Mitra at a hospital does not accept the card, or a hospital delays admission. You ask your department for help, and it usually gets sorted out at the state level. But if you ever need to go higher, to the national health authority, you will need an ABHA number. And that is when people notice the card shows ABHA ID: N/A.

This is simply because the card was viewed and downloaded before ABHA was created for that person. It is easy to fix — just go back and click Create ABHA.

What Is ABHA, in Simple Words

Your EHS card works at the state level, inside Telangana. ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) is a health ID that works across the whole country, under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. Once ABHA is created and shows up on your card, your state card is connected to this national system.

Step-by-Step: Login and Create ABHA

Keep ready: your Employee ID or Pensioner ID, and the mobile number linked to your Aadhaar.

1. Go to the EHS home page and click Employee/Pensioner Login at the top right.
2. Choose your login method. You will see two tabs: Password Login and OTP Login. Either one works.
   • For Password Login, type your Employee ID/Pensioner ID and your password, then click Login.
   • For OTP Login, type your Employee ID/Pensioner ID, and an OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number. Enter that OTP to continue.
3. Your dashboard opens. You will see your name, Employee ID, department, and designation on the left. On the right, under Beneficiaries & Dependents, you will see cards for yourself and your spouse (if added).
4. Look at your own card first. Next to your name there is a View Card button, and just under it a smaller Create ABHA link.
5. Click Create ABHA (not View Card) for yourself first.
6. Enter your Aadhaar-linked mobile number when asked, then enter the OTP you receive. Wait for the confirmation that your ABHA has been created.
7. Now go back and click View Card. This opens the Health Card page.
8. Click Download Card (or Print Card) at the top right. Check the card — the ABHA ID box should now show your actual ABHA number instead of N/A.

Common mistake: Clicking View Card first because the card already looks ready. It downloads fine, but the ABHA ID stays blank, showing N/A.

Creating ABHA for Your Spouse

Your spouse's card is listed separately under Beneficiaries & Dependents, marked "Spouse." The steps are the same as above, with one important difference:

• Click Create ABHA next to your spouse's name, not yours.
• The OTP for your spouse's ABHA goes to your spouse's own Aadhaar-linked mobile number, not yours.
• Once you see the confirmation, go back and click View Card under your spouse's name to download their card.

If You Already Created ABHA Before

Some employees already created an ABHA number in the past, maybe through a hospital or a different app, and still see N/A on their EHS card. Don't worry — you do not need a second ABHA. One Aadhaar number can only ever be linked to one ABHA number in the whole country, the same way you only have one Aadhaar number.

Just click Create ABHA on the EHS dashboard anyway. Since you already have one, the portal will simply pull up your existing ABHA number and link it to your EHS card, instead of creating a new one. After that, go to View Card and download again — your existing ABHA number should now appear.

What to Do If There Is Still a Problem

Example problem: A hospital does not accept your health card, or admission is refused or delayed.

Complaint on the ABDM Grievance Portal

If you want to submit a detailed, written complaint with documents, use the portal at grievance.abdm.gov.in.

1. Open the portal and click Register Your Grievance.
2. Choose "Grievance From." The options are Health Facility, Health Care Professional, Others, and ABDM Integrator. Telangana state employees, being neither a hospital nor a doctor, would normally pick Others.
3. Enter your name and mobile number.
4. Enter your email address and select your state (Telangana).
5. Select the type of grievance that matches your issue.
6. Write a clear description, including your ABHA number, card number, hospital name, and dates.
7. Attach supporting documents if you have any, such as a screenshot of the refusal.
8. Enter the captcha and submit. You will get a grievance reference number.
